According to Tom Reed of The Columbus Dispatch:
The Blue Jackets have acquired center Chris Gratton on re-entry waivers. He had been playing in the Tampa Bay organization. The 6-4, 220-pound forward had been playing for Nolfolk of the AHL. He will join the team for the trip to Western Canada which begins on Tuesday in Calgary.
Immediately that had me wondering if that was the move that Columbus was making, after all it was well known that they are on the lookout for a center who can play on one of their top three lines. The Blue Jackets have never had a center who compliments Rick Nash and they thought they finally had that this year in rookie Derick Brassard, but he is out for the remainder of the season.
But, according to The Dispatch:
General manager Scott Howson said the move would not prevent the Jackets from searching for another center before the trade deadline.
