Trade Rumors Heating Up

We're getting closer & closer to the NHL trade deadline and it seems that everywhere you turn on the internet there's a new rumor or theory as to what each and every team should be doing in the next two weeks.

TSN's Darren Dreger had an interesting list of the top ten players likely to be moved by the deadline:
  1. Ryan Smyth (LW, Colorado)
  2. Kari Lehtonen (G, Atlanta)
  3. James van Riemsdyk (Flyers Prospect)
  4. Nik Antropov (C/RW, Toronto)
  5. Jay Bouwmeester (D, Panthers) -- who I mentioned several days ago
  6. Olli Jokinen (C, Phoenix)
  7. Ryan Whitney (D, Penguins)
  8. Chris Pronger (D, Anaheim)
  9. Eric Cole (LW/RW, Oilers)
  10. Alexei Kovalev (RW, Montreal)
Of the ten players mentioned above, I'd be surprised if more than 4 of them were moved within the coming weeks.

Rangers viewpoint:
Steve Zipay of NewsDay thinks that the Rangers are most likely to land a veteran defenseman and submitted this list of potential players "who might fit and reportedly are available: Kyle McLaren (San Jose), David Hale and Derek Morris (Phoenix), Sean O' Donnell (Los Angeles), Adrian Aucoin (Calgary), Daryl Sydor (Dallas), Ville Koistinen and Greg Zanon (Nashville) and Jordan Leopold (Colorado). In the East, there's Niklas Havelid (Atlanta) and Ryan Whitney and Rob Scuderi (Pittsburgh)."
