Big Names Placed On Waivers

New York Rangers have placed Aaron Voros & Erik Reitz on waivers according to NHL Live

According to the Star Tribune out of Minneapolis:
The Wild has placed Peter Olvecky on waivers, and the Rangers have placed former Wild players Aaron Voros and Erik Reitz on waivers. Huge names on waivers today. Others include Brendan Morrison, Miroslav Satan, Craig Adams, Jon Sim, Eric Perrin, Gary Roberts and Martin Gerber.
Which makes you wonder if the Penguins and Ducks both plan on making big trades that would add multiple players to their team, the reason why they'd have to clear roster spots. Or, if they just want to clear cap space since both Satan & Morrison will be UFAs this summer.

Also, according to ESPN:

The Minnesota Wild have signed star goalie Niklas Backstrom to a $24 million, four-year contract

He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, and he had been the subject of numerous trade rumors.
