Prior to last night's game against Buffalo, Bill Guerin was pulled off the ice by the Islanders during warmups. It's believed that Guerin was pulled off during the warmup skate because a trade is in the works. Guerin has a 'No Trade Clause' in his contract, so he'll have to approve of any trade that the Islanders accept. According to the media earlier this week, Guerin would be willing to accept a trade to a Stanley Cup contender.
According to TSN the other team involved is in the Eastern Conference and it's not Boston. The two teams rumored to be prepared to throw an early round draft pick are the Canadiens or Capitals. RDS out of Montreal claims that the Capitals are just waiting to make sure that they have enough cap space available. While Tarik El-Bashir, a Capitals beat writer, claims that the Capitals are not the other team involved. The trade is expected to be finalized Sunday.
Guerin is a UFA on July 1st and it has long been speculated that he will return to the Islanders during the offseason because he really enjoyed his time there. But, once he's traded, anything could happen.
According to NYI Point Blank:
7:38 pm - The Islanders just sent out a series of texts to the media saying:
1. There will be no news tonight
2. There is no timeline for any announcements
