Friday's Ranger Headlines

After a big loss last night in Carolina, the Rangers sit in 8th in the East. It now looks like the final playoff berth in the East will be a battle between the Rangers and Florida. But, with a game next week against the Canadiens, Montreal isn't safe yet either.

Here are some recaps of last night's game, a game where the Hurricanes blew the Rangers right out of the game in a span of less than 40 seconds in the 3rd period. The two goals broke a 2-2 tie and gave Carolina its 10th straight win at home. [Daily News], [The Journal News], [BlueShirt Banter] and [NY Post]

Kotsy's Korner discusses the Rangers abysmal power play (which eventually got a goal via Dan Girardi's stick) and wonders how Tim Gleason can punch Nik Antropov in the face, drop the gloves and still stay out of the box. [Link]

As mentioned last night on MSG: Corey Potter got his 1st ever NHL goal and Dan Girardi broke a 53 game goalless drought. It was also the first time that two Rangers defensemen scored in the same game since 12/07 against Colorado (Staal, Rozsival).
