Rangers Clinch Playoff Spot!

Rangers 2 - Flyers 1

The Rangers are in the NHL playoffs for the fourth straight season after beating the Flyers tonight at the Garden. It turns out that the Rangers would've gotten in tonight even if they hadn't won because the Thrashers beat the Florida Panthers tonight in regulation to eliminate them from postseason contention.

Henrik Lundqvist had one of his best games of the season in route to the 2-1 win tonight. He also made one of his best saves of the season when he robbed Daniel Carcillo who had a point blank one timer denied in the third period to keep the game at 2-1.

The Rangers got goals in the first period from Markus Naslund (just 52 seconds in) and what turned out to be the game-winner, a deflection by Ryan Callahan. Daniel Briere scored for the Flyers in the second period on the power play to make it a one goal game, but that is how it remained until the final buzzer.

Rangers play the Flyers in Philly on Easter Sunday with both teams guaranteed playoff spots, now they just have to determine where they will be seeded.
