Drury Will Play Friday Against Toronto

John Tortorella today confirmed that Rangers' Captain Chris Drury will be in the lineup for the home opener on Friday night when the Rangers take on the Maple Leafs.

Not only that, but all signs indicate that Drury will start the game on the top line between Frolov and Gaborik. That is where he played during practice today. Tortorella today said after practice that he didn't want to mess with the Anisimov and Stepan lines.

Personally, I don't have a problem with starting Drury on the top line. He was a major disappointment  last year and this will give him the opportunity to get some confidence in his game again. But, I wouldn't want this to drag on and on if Drury shows that he's not capable of playing as the number one center. The top spot is available because Eric Christensen is out for at least the next game with a pulled hamstring that he suffered against the Islanders in the third period.

On defense, nothing confirmed yet, but according to Andrew Gross, it looks like Matt Gilroy will replace Steve Eminger.
