Keep Those Votes For Avery Coming

Last week we got behind the "Vote for Avery" All-Star game campaign that started in the Rangers blogosphere.

The NHL today released the early numbers for All-Star voting. For those of you who voted for Avery, you'll be happy to know that as of Tuesday, Sean Avery is currently 27th amongst forwards in votes received.
Crosby leads all vote getters in the NHL All-Star Fan Balloting Presented by XM with 118,755 votes. Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith is second with 82,968. Nicklas Lidstrom (80,723), Alex Ovechkin (80,169) and Jonathan Toews (79,953) round out the top vote getters with more than 3.62 million votes already cast.

Montreal's Carey Price leads in the goalie category with 71,199 write-in votes. Flyers rookie Sergei Bobrovsky is second behind Price among netminders with 58,101 write-in votes.
Avery has received  17,494 votes; which is only one spot behind Rangers teammate Marian Gaborik who has 19,454 votes so far. Brandon Dubinsky, Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi have each also received substantial votes via the write-in method.

Meanwhile, Henrik Lundqvist (24,245) is 11th amongst goalies and Marc Staal (28,570) is 13th amongst defensemen.

I've stated before my desire to see the Rangers' star players such as Lundqvist and Gaborik left out of the All-Star game. Those are guys the Rangers will be relying on heavily for the stretch to end the season and getting them a little rest instead of a meaningless game of non-contact pond hockey is much more important in my opinion.

But, we need some Rangers representation there, so it might as well be NHL nemesis Sean Avery. Get out the vote!

To vote for your favorite NHL pest go to NHL.com or text "Sean Avery" to 81812.
