Rangers Trade Michal Rozsival To Phoenix For Wolski

No surprise who the trade partner is :)

Glen Sather pulled off a trade late this afternoon. According to the press release
the club has acquired forward Wojtek Wolski (pronounced VOY-teck VOHL-skee) from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenseman Michal Rozsival.

Wolski, 24, was originally selected as Colorado’s first round pick, 21st overall, of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. He has registered six goals and 10 assists for 16 points, along with 10 penalty minutes in 36 games with Phoenix this season.
Yesterday, after the team announced that Alex Frolov was done for the season because of a knee injury there was immediately speculation that the Rangers would make a trade to add some depth up front. The team is already crippled with injuries to Ryan Callahan, Erik Chirstensen (you probably know how I feel about EC, I don't consider this a loss), Vinny Prospal and Derek Boogaard.

Many Rangers fans have been on Rozsival's case for years and will be over the moon to see this move by Sather. I have always said that Rozsival is better than the majority of Rangers fans give him credit for. But, at the same time, this could be a very good move for the Rangers.

Does this mean the Rangers are ready to recall Del Zotto soon? Or, has Tortorella seen enough of McDonagh that he believes the rookie defenseman can stick with the big club for the remainder of the season? Or, does this leave the Rangers looking for another veteran defenseman to fill in on the blue line?

As Puck Daddy said "Rangers fans by and large don't care about this. Rozsival is gone, and Wolski isn't named "a bag of pucks.' "
